So, you know how whenever one of you will ask about new music, 95% of the time I'll link you to To Have Heroes' myspace? Well, this post is pretty much just being used to talk about Andy Skib and his music. I'm leaving this public so I can share the Skibby love (:

This, my friends, is Mr. Andrew P Skib.

A little personal information for you before I get to the music:
Andy was born on November 9th, 1985 in San Diego, CA. That makes him 23 for all of you that are too lazy to do the math.

He has a girlfriend named Jennie. They're quite possibly the cutest couple ever.

That's Neal Tiemann and David Cook for those of you that don't know.

Which leads me to MWK (aka Midwest Kings, but no one really calls them that).
MWK was formed in 2001 and they put their first album, called Midwest Kings, in 2003. The original members of MWK were Andy Skib (lead vocals/guitar), Neal Tiemann (lead guitar/vocals), Justin Briggs (bass/vocals) and Robby Merrick (drums).

A hard copy of the album is currently out of stock (sucks for you, I already got mine), but you can buy an mp3 copy of it from here for $9.99.

MWK's second album, Judging a Bullet, came out in 2005.

In 2003, MWK came out with a 6 song EP entitled Incoherent With Desire to Move On. They also got a new guy to play bass/guitar and a new drummer. The new bassist/guitarist was David Cook (ever hear of him?) and the drummer was Josh Center.

Those are Neal's feet, just so you know.
This EP actually is in stock, so you can buy a hard copy or an mp3 copy here both for $8.00 (+ s&h, obviously).

And just because it amuses me, Andy, Neal and David playing Everything Little Thing She Does is Magic at My Big Break in Tulsa:

Sometime after this came out, or before this came out honestly I don't know, David Cook left the band to do a solo thing and came out with Analog Heart, which Andy did backup vocals on the track Silver. (Clearly, the solo thing worked out for David, but talk a little about that later.)

In 2008, MWK, now with only three members (Andy Skib, Neal Tiemann and Josh Center in case you weren't paying attention.) came out with a four song EP called Luna Despierta.

This was just a digital release, so you can buy it from here for $5.00. (Five bucks, guys! Don't be cheap, buy it!)

Now that I'm done with MWK, I'll move on to my favorite Skibby project: To Have Heroes.

You may or may not have heard of To Have Heroes from Andy's infamous GloZell interview, which may or may not mean that you didn't end up at myspace.com/tohaveheroes because Andy spelled "heroes" H-O-R-O-E-S. Way to go, Skibby.
Anyways, I figure he can explain To Have Heroes better than I could, so this is what Andy had to say about it:

What do you do when you're not a band, but you're not a solo artist? You give it a name. I chose, "To Have Heroes", to be that name. This is my "project". Over the past eight years of my life I've become friends with some incredible musicians. Some live in Tulsa, some in Austin, Nashville, and New York. Oh yeah, and one lives in American Idol. To Have Heroes is my way of beginning to see what I sound like with the help of all of these different "musically inclined" friends. Right now I'm writing and recording some new songs, and maybe hanging on to a few old ones. There will be new music very soon so please keep checkin' in. I hope you dig it, if not, go somewhere else.

If you wanted a hard copy of the To Have Heroes EP, you could've gotten one from CDBaby, but it's out of stock. (Sucks to be you, I already got mine). The good news is, there are multiple places you can get an mp3 copy! Yay! One of those place just so happens to be iTunes for $5.94. If you don't use iTunes or something, you can also get yourself an mp3 copy from Amazon for $5.94. OR if you don't like either of those options, you can go to his myspace and underneath the music player, there's a little box thing that says "Buy tracks directly from the artist". Each song costs $0.99. But on his myspace (which is myspace.com/tohaveheroes in case you didn't get that yet), there's a song that's exclusively sold on there called Forever. It's a really amazing song. So buy. Now. Okay? Okay cool.
And trust me, guys, I know I'm biased, but you will not regret this at all. You can listen to 5/6 of the songs from the EP on his myspace plus two demo tracks, I Bet You're Beautiful and Lost in America.

Currently, Andy is on tour with David Cook as part of The Anthemic with Neal Tiemann, Kyle Peek and Monty Anderson. He plays guitar, keyboard and backup vocals. (Seriously, if you go to a David show, watch Andy during Light On because he jumps between the three and it's cool) Joey Clement used to play bass in David's band, but he left to play for Selena Gomez......
